WD-40 info

FROM THE WD-40 WEBSITE

What does WD-40 stand for?
WD-40 literally stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. That’s the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed WD-40 back in 1953. The chemist, Norm Larsen, was attempting to concoct a formula to prevent corrosion—a task which is done by displacing water. Norm’s persistence paid off when he perfected the formula on his 40th try. Please see Our History for more information.

What does WD-40 contain?
While the ingredients in WD-40 are secret, we can tell you what WD-40 does NOT contain. WD-40 does not contain silicone, kerosene, water, wax, graphite, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), or any known cancer-causing agents.

FROM THE EMAIL

I had a neighbour who had bought a new pickup. I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some
unknown reason).

I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news.

He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.

Another neighbour came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off.

It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint job that was on the truck.

I’m impressed! WD-40 who knew?

Water Displacement #40.

The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and
degreaser to protect missile parts.

WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego
Rocket Chemical Company.

Its name comes from the project that was to find a “water
displacement” compound.

They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.

The Convair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile
parts.

Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in
WD-40 that would hurt you.

When you read the “shower door” part, try it.

It’s the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door.

If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass.

It’s a miracle! Then try it on your stovetop… Voila!

It’s now shinier than it’s ever been.

You’ll be amazed.

Here are some of the uses:

1) Protects silver from tarnishing.
2) Removes road tar and grime from cars.
3) Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.
4) Gives floors that ‘just-waxed’ sheen without making it slippery.

to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.

38) Florida’s favourite use is: “cleans and removes love bugs from grills and bumpers.”
39) The favourite use in the state of New York WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements
40) WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in no time. 44) If you sprayed WD-40 on the distributor cap, it would displace the moisture and allow the car to start.

P. S. The basic ingredient is FISH OIL.

REVENGE ON THE TELEMARKETER comments

REVENGE ON THE TELEMARKETER comments: As you may be able to tell this seems to be a generalisation by the initial author, not picking on anyone individually. There are numerous sites around the internet who show their love hate relationship about telemarketers who yes may be doing a job but the way most of them do not care and just ignore you and prattle on about anything really irks quite a lot of people. As for the Do not call register this should have been setup a long time ago not just this year, as the previous ADMA listings were not working.

Many people have had to change numbers frequently due to ignorance in the telemarketing industry, you start on 1 list and end up on thousands. Some people we know have had to get 3 – 5 new phone numbers a year costing an average of between AUD $165 and $275. On top of this having to change thousands of dollars of stationery getting 4 or so calls an hour makes it impossible to work efficiently.

As for getting personal a few years back an acquaintance and previous customer thought they were giving their daughter a leg up. They gave her their contact list as such she gave our number and many other peoples to each of her employers; who were telemarketers who proceeded to call us up for all and sundry that we were not interested in at which time we were on the ADMA do not call list. Being ever so polite we told them no thanks but we are not interested as 90% or so of people do. We did not try to get the initial caller fired or our ex friend who used to live at Nobby beach running holiday apartments whose name coincidentally was Thea.

Some of our best friends are telemarketers and they get a good laugh from REVENGE ON THE TELEMARKETER as they know it is meant to be funny and they do not hold it against us as we did not create it. As for the comments from Thea Westra about working as a telemarketer versus claiming unemployment benefits we whole heartedly agree if you can do it you should.

GoldCoast-fires-Parkwood 2004-2007-info

Gold Coast fires Parkwood 2004-2007 info highlights some of the many fires over a 3 year period just in the Parkwood area.

The above image shows how careless the people on Uplands Drive are.

The people of Uplands drive Parkwood do not care they just light what ever sort of fire they feel like. This can be seen in a few of the picutres. The rest of the residents have to put up with the smoke for 3 – 4 months a year from them burning off all sorts of stuff in their fireplaces.

These are not all of the fires from the area but just a selection of some of the best we have taken. They highlight the lack of care that these environmental vandals have for this beautiful country we live in.
