Australian ISP’s SPY name copyright cops

Australian ISP’s SPY name copyright cops, copyright policing, movie studios, television networks, music labels. I hope none of these businesses are using people who have stolen any of my products or services as I have no hope being a little guy of getting them under control, or charged with theft.

I say the artists will tell you also the movie and music companies have gotten way to much in the pockets already. So since they have this great volume of money let them police the industry. And give us little guys a chance to get our money back.

I know every month there is a chance I will get less work as someone else decided to copy what I do. On the flip side though I get the work back with more profit as I have to fix up the mess these cowboys leave.

How far is to far but. I started a short lived policy a number of years back that my business tries to only purchase from or use businesses who reciprocate in kind. This kind of community relationship is suppossed to increase trust so that this group ends up spending more.

Quoted: From Eric Bangeman.

“Envision a world where your ISP does the copyright policing at the behest of the movie studios, television networks, and music labels, where no copyrighted content stays up on a user’s account for more than 24 hours. It sounds like a dream for Big Content, but it’s also a nightmare for customers of Australian ISP Exetel.

An Exetel support page which features the top ten support questions from the previous month. A frequently asked question from customers is why their multimedia files keep disappearing from their accounts. Exetel says that it takes a “hard approach to copyright issues,” and since April 2005 the ISP has run a script that deletes all multimedia content with common extensions including .avi, .mp3, .wmv, and .mov.”
