Hot air Balloon drama Gold coast Australia Boxing day 2008

Elgas out of gas again almost?

In an almost unfortunate Christmas tragedy this morning a number of hot air balloons nearly landed in our street and suburb on the Gold coast in Australia. They included elgas landing in the street and tallpoppies.net.au in our back yard almost.

WOW these hot air balloons really freaked us out we were uploading videos and sorting out our profiles on our various accounts when we heard a rumbling and saw a big shadow cover our office. I looked out the window and all I could see was a huge elgas hot air balloon. We thought they left the suburb after they approached Parkwood from the Labrador area. as you will see they in the video and other pictures we have around the place find the links hereon they were in many cases inches away from trees and houses.

As you will see our photo pages this is not an uncommon site to see on the gold coast in Australia. Many a time we have been woken up in the past by this immense roar and we often think we are being invaded by aliens or something else strange like that. This latest elgas balloon incident had many of the neighbours running out of their houses, not long after dawn on Boxing day 26 12 2008 around 5.50 am only to find the hot air balloon mere metres above the ground. The hot air elgas hot air balloon captain was in control this time unlike the time the Hot tomato balloon landed on the street round the corner from us last year.

Sorry guys had help stuffing this vid up should have been tallpoppies.net.au

Sunbeam Coffee dramas as Saeco off the hook maybe

Coffee machines true stories behind the hype.

We know everyone has experienced it at some time or another the fact that usually the warranty runs out then you get problems. Well not so with our latest coffee machine purchase the Sunbeam Coffee machine cafe series EM6910.

Back on July 22nd we replaced our Saeco which was apparently stolen from the repair shop, with what we believed to be a sturdy a new Sunbeam Coffee machine cafe series EM6910.

Now not even only 2 months later coffee is spraying everywhere. The machine started making funny noises so I looked down to see what was happening and got shot in the face with scalding hot water and steam.  Today we cleaned the shower screen of the Sunbeam cafe series EM6910 & when we pulled the seal out noticed it was split. Sunbeam claim the seal should last at least 12 months. However we have had a Krupps coffee machine which it’s shower screen only now needs replacing due to going hard after 13.5 years use. Apart from this minor set back with the Sunbeam we love our Sunbeam cafe series EM6910 when it works.

Whether this seal issue is a fault or a money making tactic Sunbeam really needs to think about the potential damages costs associated with injuring, blinding people or even still killing them by electrocution.

For some strange reason Sunbeam requests you call them about changing this seal and to make matters worse unlike a normal business Sunbeam are not even there until 9.30 am. We will try to keep you updated on the outcome of this drama. We just tried calling Sunbeam again at 9.50 am and wasted $5 on a mobile call to try sorting out the problem only to not get answered.

On a brighter note: The Sunbeam grinder we bought which is in the photo’s so far has worked brilliantly AND. Thankfully we finally got our Saeco Royal professional coffee machine back earlier in the month. It turned out it was put away safely for storage and not lost or stolen. We are grateful to Allan at the Regal coffee company Southport for finding our beloved machine. Allan even somehow managed to fix the Saeco manufacturing fault of the side door being warped since we bought it. We love Saeco when it works.

A bit of background on our coffee indulgence.
Since 1985 23 years ago I have been collecting machines and enjoying coffee. So far to date we have counted and found we have 13 of the 15 coffee making machines collected that we bought. Everyday we enjoy at least 2 to 4 coffees. We usually drink Latte’s but sometimes enjoy Greek or Turkish coffee a plunger, percolated or espresso.

If you have any experiences like the above we can be contacted through our email or preferably leave a comment.
