Is there a way to improve Reception. Can anybody tell me what I need to do to improve reception for GSM phones at my home (or point me to an article describing how). For a nominal, yet relatively inexpensive price, you can try to improve reception by adding antenna power to your phone.  Power booster will improve reception for your analogue cellular phone by 20% to 40%, and for your digital cellular phone by 10% to 30%.  Another friend of mine, who works as an engineer with a cell phone company tells me that the antenna booster will not, and can not improve reception on a cellular phone, because of the a number of reasons.

Outdoor TV antennas and satellite dishes: Connecting one of these to a shortwave radio can substantially improve reception, although you may want to disconnect it when listening to some stations (to decrease interference and weaker overlapping stations) if necessary.  This is going to cost you a bit, potentially more than a hundred dollars for an external antenna or a few hundred dollars for a power booster, but it will help reception.
